Dior Christmas 2015 - Blazing Gold Eyeshadow Palette

10 November 2015

The next item from my Dior Christmas 2015 Collection is the Dior 5 Colour palette in the shade 886 Blazing Gold.

Although the name is clearly to link the product in with the State of Gold name of the collection it's a little misleading as aside from one shade (the middle one) nothing about this palette is particularly in-your-face gold, and even that middle shade is a slightly muted gold. I don't think that's at all a bad thing but when looking at the colours in this palette I'd say it's almost a more autumnal looking palette as it's not a totally all out glitter and glitz item, the way that the nail varnish I reviewed on Saturday is

The shadows are super pigmented, as always with Dior. Dior shadows are truly some of the most blendable and pigmented one the market are they definitely don't get enough hype among beauty bloggers.

For now I've been wearing the red and brown shades with the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in 116 Rouge Gorge, which I reviewed here, but I think they'll look great with the Fusion Mono Shadow from the collection (review coming soon!) come the more chilly winter temperatures (which I am fully ready for - it's November, what is going on with the weather?!) and the proper festive season.

On me the pale pink-y shade is great to buff out the edges with as it's so close to my skin tone and the gold looks really pretty pressed on to the inner corners of the eyes. All the shades have a slight sheen to them - none of them are truly matte, but the gold and the darkest one - which I'd say is a black base with a silver shimmer in it which means it looks more dark grey when it's actually on - are the only two with proper shimmer. It's not full on shimmer though, so they're definitely wearable outside of the Christmas season and there's not too much of the fall out you get with more full on glitter shadows.

Overall I think this is a really versatile and wearable palette that isn't exclusively appropriate for Christmas, it's brilliant quality and I do really highly rate Dior eyeshadows. However, the colours aren't ground breaking and although they're beautiful if you have these types of colours already then it's not an absolute must have!
