Gym Bunny Beauty

16 January 2014

As part of my general Be More Healthy resolution for 2014 I've managed to force myself to the gym a little more than usual lately and I'm sure I'm not the only one so I decided to share the products I've been reaching for post-workout to help me keep convincing myself that this working out lark is actually doing good things for my body and not just leaving me in pain.

Since I usually come out all sweaty (gross but really, what's the point in going if you're not there to work hard and get sweaty?!) the first thing to do is clean my face and I've been going in with the Clinique Take The Day Off Balm(£21.00) and a Liz Earle Muslin Cloth(£4.25 for 2) to properly clean my face. I read somewhere that actually sweat is good for clearing out blocked pores but I don't know if that's totally true. What I do know is that the Origins Clear Improvements Mask(£22.00) does deep clean so a few times a week after cleaning my face I've been slathering that on for ten minutes to keep my face feeling fresh.

I then like to jump into the shower and scrub off the mask or balm, depending on what day it is, then make a start on  my body. After a really heavy gym session which has left me tired and sore I've been reaching for the Elemis Revitalise Me Shower Gel (℅ Debenhams) (£17.00). I've had this shower gel since the summer but it's only just making its way onto the blog as I thought £17 was a really high price for a 'fresh' shower gel when you can get a lot of citrus/fresh shower gels to awaken you in the morning for a lot less. However if you're a gym bunny and finding your body is just exhausted at the end of the day then this shower gel does actually seem to revitalise the body rather than just awakening it, so definitely worth looking into. For exfoliating Soap & Glory scrubs are always my go to ones and after a workout the Sugar Crush(£8.00) version with it's lime fragrance leaves my body feeling cool and fresh.

There's nothing worse than that thick, sweat soaked feeling in your hair so the Phyto Phytoneutre Detox Shampoo(£10.50) has been reached for once a week to give my hair a proper clean that leaves it feeling totally weight free. To keep that light feeling rather than weighing it down with conditioner I've been reaching for my It's A Ten Miracle Leave In + Keratin(£21.00) which I've only been using for a short period of time but can already tell is the sort of product I'll never want to be without. At £21.00 for 60ml it's not cheap though and perhaps the Unite 7 Seconds Conditioner(£14.85) for 236ml is a better buy, I haven't personally tried it but haven't heard anything but good things about it!

In keeping with the spray on conditioner theme for the body I've been reaching for the Vaseline Spray + Go(£4.99) to keep me moisturised. It's quick and easy whilst still being effective and that's the main pull for me post workout shower when I just want to get into my pyjamas and relax with some youtube videos and a cup of tea. The last product I apply in this little routine is my Caudalie Beauty Elixer(£32.00). It's not my go to toner and actually I was recently trying to find a use for it, but it's now having its moment. Following a workout it's a lovely refreshing toner that soothes and revitalises a red (verging onto purple if it's been a Metafit night) and sticky face and it comes in a travel size(£11.50) as well to pop in your gym bag if you prefer.

  1. Congrats on getting to the gym more often- it's not easy! Love the idea of using the Caudalie Elixir and Origins mask post-workout. Both sound perfect for that! xo

  2. I really liked this post :) It's hard to motivate myself to do any exercise at the minute (too cold and dark when I get home!), but the prospect of treating myself afterwards might just make it more bearable! x

  3. Hello lovely, just came across your blog and it's great - amazing motivational post!
