Suit Jacket & Trousers from H&M
Bag - Accessorize a very long time ago!

Nope, your eyes do not deceive you - I'm putting up an outfit post! I can't remember the last time I did that, which is really strange given that I got into the entire blogging scene by becoming hooked on blogs that were nothing more than outfit posts. No text, bar to tell us where the items were from, no restaurants, no food pictures, no nothing - only straight forward outfit posts.

I wanted to be a part of it but I didn't have a photographer boyfriend or a DSLR so I just kept watching from the sidelines and when I did start this blog it was as more of a lifestyle blog, but I still wanted to include elements of those original outfit post that got me involved with the blogosphere.  S here I am, including one.

I've always been a fan of the woman wearing a suit look, but not had much luck finding one that did anything for me - it's a look I find tends to suit very slim women, such as SJP looking incredible in her suit at Standford's wedding in S&TC2, but a lot of the trouser and blazer combos that were designed to go together for the look didn't come together too well on me. If the trousers were right the blazer was too boxy and if the blazer fitted the trousers didn't. So when I ordered this combo from the H&M website last week my hopes weren't too high if I'm honest. It had become a habit to order suits, try them on and return them, but this time I was pleasantly surprised.

The high waist and wide leg on the tourers makes them quite flattering, though they do require the highest of heels (mine were from Topshop, but they're very old and not pictures so I don't see the point in going on about them - basically team it with the highest pair you own!) and the jacket was long and slim, not boxy and adding extra material at my hips where it's really not needed.

I'm still trying to find the perfect thing to wear underneath though... The suit doesn't work with a shirt underneath it, the jacket isn't cut for that and the line of the tourers means the top has to be cropped to work. I'm thinking maybe some kind of bustier or something. I wouldn't take the jacket off anyway so it doesn't need to be particularly seen, but although I think the Whitney Bra looks amazing with it I was very conscious most of the evening about not flapping my arms too wide and causing the blazer to open, so I am definitely on the hunt for something that covers maybe a little bit more.

Until I find it though, this is how I'll be wearing it - and finally feeling like I've nailed the 'woman wearing a suit' look!
