The 30 Day Shred.

Some of my more recent purchases - fashion haul coming up on my youtube channel on Sunday so keep your eyes peeled over there to see what else I've been buying! I didn't realise this shirt was cropped when I bought it - lazy shopping - but I do actually quite like it, the embellishment detail is beautiful and dresses up the denim material so well - in my own little opinion!

In other news today marks marks day 29 of the 30 Day Shred for me, and I am feeling so super fit and like I could conquer the world! I've been really trying to stick to my New Year's Resolution of living a more healthy lifestyle and I want to get into exercising regularly. After I'm finished with the shred I think I'll break out the old Couch to 5K program, which I've started and failed at numerous times but always worth starting again - of all the times I've started the 30 Day Shred I've only completed it twice so far, and this time will be the third - so this may be the first time I complete the C25K program! 

In terms of the Shred, incase anyone is interested, I really recommend it - it's a half hour program (well, just under a half hour) that you do every day for 30 days and there's 3 levels (you do each level for 10 days then move on). I have never felt so unfit as I did when starting every level - seriously, on the first day of level 1 I thought I was unfit then when day 1 of level 2 arrived it made my day 1 look like I was training for the olympics! But you do notice your body progressing and getting stronger through each level so the change keeps you motivated and spurs you on. 

The only thing I'd say is that I didn't think that 2 minutes of cardio per circuit was enough, I feel like I've toned up and built muscles but not really burnt very much fat - my arms half gained half an inch on each after 29 days of lifting weights and my thighs are exactly the same as they were, though both my arms and thighs feel much firmer and look much better than they did when they were smaller but less firm. I've lost an inch off my stomach and half an inch off my waist, which I'm happy with but overall I just wanted a program that would get me into exercising regularly and this one really has. 

I'm now used to finding that 30 minutes a day to work out in and although I want to now exercise for longer, around an hour, but less times a week - ideally aiming for an hour every 4 days - I feel like I'll be used to having exercise be something that I do as part of my lifestyle rather than something I'm doing 'because I have to'. Admittedly it's something I'll probably always do 'because I have to' I definitely will never be the type of girl who loves going out running or finding the burn in squats or chair sits but I do admit that I just feel better overall when I don't have that voice in the back of my head guilt tripping me about the fact I haven't done anything for a while...

If you're looking to get fit for Summer I can't recommend giving the shred a go enough - and for anyone looking for inspiration my biggest tip is Pinterest. I've started my own board here - and I find because I've got the app I can go on and have a read of my board any time I like, so when I'm passing the chip shop and those fumes get into my nose when I know I've got a salad waiting for me at home I can scroll through my board and remember to focus on why I want to be healthy in the first place!

  1. So impressed you made it to day 29 - I started it once and did it for like 3 days before giving up! Although to be honest, it was partly because the only space I could find to do it was in our hallway which was really impractical, plus I felt guilty doing lots of jumping around in a flat (my poor downstairs neighbours). Cute outfit too, love that little bag! x
